Entrepreneurship development

The section contains information on the basic statistical indicators, which characterise conditions and tendencies for development of business entities, which covered enterprises-legal persons and natural persons-entrepreneurs.

The enterprise-legal person (further – the enterprise) – the independent business entity created by competent body of the government authority or local administration or other economic player to satisfy public and personal requirements by regular performance of production, research, trade or other economic activities according to the order stipulated by the Business Code of Ukraine and other laws. The enterprise does not incorporate other legal persons, but has the right to create subsidiaries, representations, branches and other separated subdivisions, which have no status of the legal person.

The natural person-entrepreneur – a natural person registered under a stated order with the purpose to realize an entrepreneurial activity.

Statistical data for 2010/2013 regarding the basic indicators of enterprises’ activities by their size are compiled using the criteria for large, middle-sized, small and micro enterprises specified in the Economic Code of Ukraine as worded as of March 22, 2012, namely:

micro enterprises are entities of any organisational and legal form and form of ownership where during the reference period (calendar year) the average number of employees does not exceed 10 persons and the annual revenue from any activity does not exceed a sum equal to 2 million euros fixed by the average annual rate of the National Bank of Ukraine;

small enterprises are entities of any organisational and legal form and form ofownership where during the reference period (calendar year) the average number of employees does not exceed 50 persons and the annual revenue from any activity does not exceed a sum equal to 10 million euros fixed by the average annual rate of the National Bank of Ukraine;

large enterprises are entities of any organisational and legal form and form of ownership where during the reference period (calendar year) the average number of employees does not exceed 250 persons and the annual revenue from any activity exceed a sum equal to 50 million euros fixed by the average annual rate of the National Bank of Ukraine;

middle-sized enterprises are other entities.

Number of persons employed workers includes regular employees, those not on the permanent staff and unpaid (owners, founders of an enterprises and members of their families) employees of an enterprise.

Number of employees incorporates regular employees and those not on the permanent staff (working under contracts and in more than one job) at an enterprise.

Volume of sold products (goods, services) is calculated using the prices of final products (goods and services) shipped outside the business that is mentioned in the processed documents which are used as a framework for settlement with a customer (client) (including products (goods, services) by barter contracts) less indirect tax on value added.

The information for 2012, updated taking into account the changes of the major type of economic activity of enterprises.

The information for 2013 is detailed by type of economic activities; it is resulted without taking into account changes of the major type of economic activity of enterprises.
