Education
This section contains statistics on permanent pre-schools, secondary educational
institutions, professional training institutes and institutions of higher
education of different levels of accreditation, data on training of postgraduate
and doctoral students.
Pre-school educational
institutions incorporate day
nurseries, child care institutions, kindergartens, child care institutions of
family, combined, compensation type (specialised and sanatoria based), tutorial
and pedagogic complexes, etc.
Secondary educational institutions
include schools, lycées, gymnasiums, collegiums, educational training complexes
(associations), sanatorium schools of all levels as well as specialised schools
(boarding schools) and schools of social rehabilitation.
Secondary educational institutions of the first level (primary schools) provide
basic education, schools of the second level (middle school) grant incomplete
secondary education and schools of the third level (high school) ensure
completed secondary education.
Professional training institutions
are educational institutions which
provide professional training education. The graduates from professional
training institutions who received the good assessment of their qualifications
are given a skilled worker
qualification in occupation of the appropriate rank (category).
Institutions of higher education consist of technical secondary schools, vocational schools, colleges, institutes, conservatoires, academies, universities, etc.
According to the status of the institutions of higher education, four levels of
accreditations were set up: the first level refers to technical secondary
schools, vocational schools, etc. The second level covers colleges (technicums)
and other similar institutions. The third and the fourth levels include
academies, universities, institutes and conservatoires.
Higher educational
institutions train specialists according to the following education and
qualification levels:
training of
junior specialists is normally provided by technical secondary schools,
vocational schools, other institutions of higher education of the first level of
accreditation;
bachelors are
trained by colleges, other institutions
of higher education of the second, third and fourth levels of accreditation;
specialist
training and training for master degrees by institutions of higher education of
the third and the fourth levels of accreditation.
Within the
improvements made to the state statistical observation launched
over institutions of higher education, the methodology behind the
indicators of admission to and graduation from institutions of higher education
has undergone changes.
From the
2004/05 academic year, the section gives data on enrollments to the primary
cycle of education (i.e. students who just started their training at
institutions of higher education) and graduations (excluding those who continue
their training in order to receive a higher educational and qualification
level).
